When people ask why I started YVR Shuttle, the answer is simple: after over two decades behind the wheel in nearly every corner of the transportation industry, I knew it was time to build something of my own — something that truly served people the way they deserve.

I’m Ken Makkar, founder of YVR Shuttle, and I’ve been a professional driver for 24 years. My journey started back in the early 2000s as a cab driver, navigating the streets of Vancouver long before GPS apps were a thing. From there, I expanded into courier work, then went on to drive for Greyhound and DHL, delivering both packages and people across cities and provinces.

As my skills grew, so did my experience. I graduated to driving dump trucks and pulling containers from the Vancouver ports, learning the ins and outs of logistics and heavy-duty transportation. But it was the past 14 years as a city transit operator that truly shaped my connection to the city.

Vancouver Is More Than a Map — It’s a Story

I don’t just know the Lower Mainland — I know every curve, shortcut, and side street like the back of my hand. Over the years, I’ve driven through every neighbourhood in town, learning its history, discovering its hidden gems, and meeting the people who make it special.

As a bus operator, I’ve transported millions of riders — locals, newcomers, tourists — from all walks of life. I’ve listened, helped, and served. Every ride taught me something new about this city and the people who live in it.
